Memento mori

Do you have a quote you live your life by or think of often?

Memento Mori: Be aware that you will die!

Begin of last year my mum passed away. Two months later my father did the same (on the day before mum’s funeral).

Being aware of our own mortality brings anything else into perspective.

Are you annoyed about the behaviour of anybody. Be aware, they will die. Would you want for rough times to end, be aware, they will.

But most important: Your time here is limited. Do you really want to invest it in holding a grudge? For how long? A week? A day? A minute?

There is one book that brings this problem back to reality: “4000 weeks”. This number equals 76.9years. If your life expectancy is that high, than that is all you get! If your estimated life expectancy is lower, then expect less weeks!

I decided yeas ago, to be frugal with my time. Not wasting it on anger, grudge or resentment. Rather discard the annoyance someone wants to inflict on me and move on to healthier relationships.

I cannot control your emotions, but I can manage mine.
